Change is on, whether we want it or not. For the vast majority of congregations the capacity to engage God’s mission in a post-modern world requires a change in values, outlook and understanding of church. The denominational church that believed it was here to do something on God’s behalf is now becoming the missional church attending to where the reign of God is breaking into the world and discerning God’s invitation to participate. Command and control leadership is giving way to more entrepreneurial, artistic, community developing, adaptive leadership. ‘Build it and they will come’ is turning to, ‘equip and send’.
